Ali Baksh or Ali Baksh Khan was a Pakistani classical singer. He, together with his friend Fateh Ali Khan founded the Patiala Gharana.[1] Patiala Gharana is a relatively new gharana. This gharana is claimed to combine the musical traditions of Delhi gharana, Gwalior Gharana and Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana. This gharana has many notable pupils Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Malika Pukhraj s[2] and Gauhar Jan.[3] on their credit. Ustad Ali Baksh Khan used to sing with his friend Fateh Ali Khan. The duo was called Alia, futto. Before the partition of India they have been the court musician in Patiala. Because of their musical skill, they were carrying the title of Jarnail (Ali Baksh) and Karnail (Fateh Ali). Fateh Ali Khan died early. He had a son, Aashiq Ali Khan. He was taught by students of his father. Aashiq Ali had many nothworthy students like Mohammad Hussain Sarahang, Farida Khanum, and Zahida Parveen. Ali Bakash had one son, Ustad Akhtar Hussain. Ustad Akhtar Hussan three sons, Amanat Ali Khan, Fateh Ali Khan and Hamid Ali Khan. The duo of Amanat Ali Khan and Fateh Ali Khan has been a top notch singer duo of Pakistan, Ustad Amanat Ali Khan died in 1974, Fateh Ali Khan does not sing anymore because of bad health. After Fateh Ali Khan, there is no notable Classical music singer left in Pakistan.
